Course Description:

 Aligning course content requirements with IEP goals for Math, Reading and Writing is an essential support for student success.This course provides examples of differentiated teaching strategies. Participants can use the differentiated strategies and examples provided to address students’ learning with fun, enriching and supportive activities, while meeting their IEP goals.

Learning Objectives:

Participants should:

1.Learn to incorporate differentiation strategies adaptable to include in a student’s IEP goals.

2. Customize instruction with differentiated learning strategies.

 

This study is organized into modules with specific readings and Ted Talks.

Graded Assignments and Professional Reading:

Each assignment is presented in an individual Module specific to the topic.

Modules are organized with specific readings and Ted Talks along with access information.

Graded Assignments

1.Write a differentiated IEP for Math, Reading and Writing using the given example in each area.

*Note: You may use an IEP previously created to adapt to this assignment.

2.Read the research articles and listen to the Ted Talks which are provided in the Modules.

Module 1: Ted Talks (20 points)

How learning and playing music benefit learning for students.

Steps to promote Math learning.

Using student’s affective self-reflections to promote learning.

Building potential in subject content.

Module 2: (20 points)

Directed Differentiation Strategies with examples.

Module 3: (40 points)

Using a given IEP to practice differentiation.

Create a differentiated IEP for Math,Reading and Writing.

Module 4: (20 points)

Reading Assignment-Teacher Reflections and How They Impact Student Learning

Angela Duckworth research and teacher reflection exercise

Take the “Grit Test”.
