Course Description: This course explores several classroom discipline approaches. Participants will learn how to build equitable classrooms that emphasize safety and connection, where everyday interactions and conflicts become meaningful SEL learning opportunities. Several strategies for building procedures and routines and high behavioral expectations will also be incorporated.
Objectives:
The student will:
Examine the various techniques and approaches to individual classroom management.
1.Explain and illustrate the three brain states: Survival State, Emotional State and Executive State.
2.Create a classroom plan that incorporates procedures and routines.
3.Examine ways to incorporate high behavioral expectations in the classroom.
4.Integrate the principles of social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation into classroom setting.
